It shows how our energy sources and consumption will need to change if we truly want to limit the global temperature increase to 2 Celsius degrees the target set by the International Panel on Climate Change by Note the relative size of the contribution by energy efficiency. As the market transforms and economies of scale take effect, the cost of these technologies will continue to drop.

Energy efficiency however, is really cheap. It helps to think about energy efficiency as a source of energy. A penny saved is a penny earned, as they say. At the other end of the spectrum is renewable energy at as much as 46 cents. This range of costs is typical in most jurisdictions worldwide, because the costs of fossil fuels, renewable energy systems and energy efficiency measures are primarily driven by global commodity prices.

Henry Alford June 15, My mother is a hooker, by which I mean she hooks rugs. At the high point of her career, some of Mom’s rugs were included in a slide show at New York City’s American Folk Art Museum; her pre-show excitement came out in her statement, “Hookers are busing in from all over New England! I brought along my sister Kendy like Mom, a hooker and knitter and my boyfriend, Greg like me, a do-nothing , and our first stop was Lunenburg, just over an hour’s drive south of the Halifax airport.

The town itself feels sleepy but arty—on our first day we encountered two separate gentlemen dreamily strumming acoustic guitars on their porches. At one point Mom cast a glance at a group of houses near our hotel—the comfortable and unassuming Boscawen Inn—and said, “I think they had a purple-paint sale here. And so, having parked our car in front of the Lunenburg Curling Club building one morning, we entered the de-iced hockey rink in which some 40 craftspeople were selling their wares.

Cape Breton store offers free land, job to Canadians willing to relocate Cape Breton store offers free land, job to Canadians willing to relocate One family-run general store in Nova Scotia is trying a unique approach to recruit staff to the rural business. Aug 29, 4: Farmer’s Daughter is a general store and bakery in Whycocomagh, N. Sisters Sandee MacLean and Heather Coulombe took over the business earlier this year from their dairy farmer parents, who started it nearly 25 years ago.

MacLean told CBC News that the store has great employees — but it needs more of them to expand their operations. Many young people have left the community to work in places like Halifax or Alberta. MacLean and Coulombe came up with the idea of offering two free acres of land to people who are willing to relocate to Whycocomagh.

We have, I think, emails in our email account and and some messages on Facebook, all people wanting to come work for us,” she said. The owners say they want people who can commit to Whycocomagh and grow the community — including in the winter. Anyone who relocated to work at the Farmer’s Daughter could live on the land at first, MacLean said.
